How to prepare for your spray tan

What should I do to prepare for a spray tan?
~Exfoliate to prime skin the day before your application. Exfoliating products that leave the skin excessively oily, such as salt scrubs, should be avoided.
~Make sure that all lotions, creams, deodorants, makeup or other toiletries are removed from the skin before a treatment. If these products are left on the skin, discoloration and uneven results can occur.
~Waxing or shaving should be done the day before preferably. This includes facial waxing. If you need to shave the day of your tan, do so at least 3 hours before.  After your spray tan, use new razor blades as old, dull shaving blades can strip your tan and cause uneven fading.
~All jewelry should be removed before treatment. Tight fitting jewelry, such as watches or rings, should not be worn until after showering.
~We recommend contact lenses be removed prior to treatment.
~Attire for tanning — Your choice of being nude, topless or wearing a dark-colored bathing suit (or undergarments). TANS recommends that you wear at minimum a thong for your protection. TANS DHA solutions washes out of most clothing and bedding very easily, but tends to stain light nylon and other light synthetic materials.
~Wear dark, loose clothing and shoes to your appointment so that you can wear the same home after your tan. Tight fitting clothing can hinder tanning results as it will rub off the product.  Also be careful of women's purse straps on the forearm or shoulder as it can rub the product off in those areas too.
~Plan not to get wet, exercise or perspire for at least 8 hours. Be careful of washing your hands (only wash the bottom of hands), rain, and drink condensation on a glass or bottle. All of which will strip the product before it has time to tan the skin.
After 8 hours, the product can be showered off and normal activities can be resumed. You will see some color washing off the first time you shower. This is just the cosmetic color that was applied, your skin will continue to tan for 24 hours as the tanning solution develops.

How should I care for my spray tan?
~Apply moisturizer, morning and evening, after your post-tanning shower. Hydrated skin makes your tan last longer and your skin looking healthy. Most products on the market are not good for Spray Tanned skin.  TANS moisturizers leave out the ingredients that will fade your tan.  For best results use TANS SILK - Daily Moisturizer, or TANS Silky Sheen - Dry Aerosol Moisturizer
~For Best Results Wait 5-7 days before your next spray Tan application. Make sure skin is exfoliated and free from old tan before reapplying. This will ensure smooth, even, sunless tanning results every time.

Though rare, a tan may develop differently during various hormonal cycles (ovulation, menstruation, or even heightened stress). Tans may develop lighter in color or may fade unevenly in rare cases.
